My name is Sydney I’mari Johnson-Brown and I am 17 years old. I live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and for the past month I’ve been trying to transfer from Baton Rouge Magnet high school to better my academics at another school. It should be simple to transfer schools right? However, Baton Rouge high school is getting into legal issues with my family, that is not their concern. I’ve been living with my dad for 7 months, and is listed on my birth certificate. Why does he gets so little say when it comes to me? Some of BRMHS administration and teachers don’t care for the students as individuals, but think of us as pawns and numbers (how well we perform). According to cga.ct.gov state law requires a parent/guardian to drop you. So, why can’t I leave to better my education? Why do I have to keep going through endless loopholes to transfer? Please sign this petition, so I can leave BRMHS and not face troubles anymore!!! I just want to reach the mayor Sharon Weston Broome and get enough signatures to leave BRMHS.
