Brook Day Nursery provides vital services for the staff of Sharnbrook Academy and local community.

There are currently 48 children on role with five on the waiting list. There have been around 15 enquiries about places in the past 10 days, which have had to be declined due to the proposed closure. The closure will represent a significant loss to the staff and local community.

It is a valuable service, which is needed in the current climate of other local nursery closures. The children who attend, the parents and the wider community treasure the nursery. There is clearly a demand for places and we wish to see the nursery thrive going forward. Its closure may result in the loss of good staff at the school, as they may need to find jobs where there is also childcare provision, and have a negative effect on the schools future recruitment.

The local community who do not travel will be limited in their access to other nursery providers.  Sharnbrook is a growing community - 500 new homes are being created, potentially housing many new families with a need for local childcare.
