SFA & Scottish Government must invite Boston Red Sox to play at Hampden Park

The Issue

At the 2026 World Cup, Scotland fans revelled and partied in Boston for over a week.

On Sunday 14th June, The Tartan Army marched over to Fenway Park, purchasing roughly 5000 tickets to the Red Sox vs Texas Rangers match. Possibly the majority of the Scotland fans didn't know the rules to the game of Baseball, but spent the entire evening in Fenway Park partying. The noise and energy generated by the Scotland fans that evening, to songs like "I'm Shipping Up To Boston" and "Mr Brightside" was unforgettable.

This gained national and international attention - as many of the players and match officials described it as one of the best atmospheres they had experienced at Fenway Park.

This is set amid the incredible example that the Tartan Army have set in Boston - joyful celebration and exemplary behaviour, in addition to supporting the Bostonian economy by means of copious alcohol consumption.

The Scottish Government and the Scottish Football Association need to capitalise on this moment - they must act and invite the Boston Red Sox and the Texas Rangers over to Scotland to play and exhibition match on the off-season, allowing the Tartan Army to reconnect with our beloved Red Sox.

Such a move would likely draw billions into the Scottish Economy (unverified). It truly is a no brainer.
