During this COVID-19 pandemic, the Sewanhaka School District has done a great job at making many tough decisions to keep their students and staff as safe as possible. The graduating class of 2020 has missed out on many events that make up the majority of a typical senior year. The district has decided to proceed with graduation, virtually. The class of 2020 sees this as a very abrupt and rushed ending to their senior year. A virtual graduation does not capture the full and celebratory essence that a real ceremony does. Although these times do not call for large gatherings, the class of 2020 feels that the district should move the graduation ceremony to a later date to safely celebrate the journey of these graduates.
