Reform Seton Hall's Internship Policy

Reform Seton Hall's Internship Policy
The Issue
Seton Hall is among colleges throughout the country that requires its students to pay for internship credits in order to register a student’s participation. This practice is financially unjust and discriminatory.
For students without the financial means, it adds yet another burden and obstacle to potentially obtaining valuable professional experience. Students are responsible for procuring and completing the internship, while often expending additional money to travel to the location. The school, meanwhile suffers little to no strain in facilitating the process.
Whether you’re in the School of Diplomacy or the College of Arts and Sciences, or one of the other colleges present on campus, the practice of forcing students to pay the school for work performed at another location and absent substantial involvement from the University is unwarranted and unnecessary. Students shouldn’t have to pay for the privilege to work.
As students we value the importance of work and gathering needed exposure to the professional environment beyond campus. We should be allowed to intern absent a financial constraint from the university.
If you wish to remedy financial injustice and protect the student body from continuing to be financially exploited, then stand together and stand as one. Sign the petition and show your unity and bring about reform.
