Keep Seton Hall, Berwick upon Tweed, open.

Keep Seton Hall, Berwick upon Tweed, open.
The Issue
A consultation is underway to discuss the future of Seton Hall, this means that if additional funding and ideas fail to come forward the loss of upwards of 60 jobs could be lost and the business is threatened with closure and loss of a popular Care Home with a substantial effect to the Local Economy
The building was taken over from Northumberland County Council and the service provision was undertaken by a subsidiary of Berwickshire Housing Association it was thought that BH had an interest in acquiring the Housing Stock of Berwick Borough Council.
Local Support is needed to continue the viability of the Home and its current residents.
Seton Hall is a very important part of our community. Many of us have relatives there who are happy and settled.Asking the residents to move elsewhere is totally unacceptable We will lose 42 long term residential places,5 short break and respite care places and
a limited number of places available to residents with dementia.
A stay at Seton Hall is not always permanent. They offer short breaks and respite care. Here are some reasons why you may want a short stay:
Just out of hospital and need to recover before you return home
Give yourself, your family or your regular carer a break
Test for yourself what life in the care home is like, before deciding on a permanent move
Temporary residents enjoy all the services, benefits and activities that Seton Hall offers. Seton Hall also has a day care centre in a large, airy room, where all activities and specialist services provided for residents are available to day visitors.
ALL of the above will be lost if we dont act NOW.
Also what will happen to the 60 staff if they close Seton Hall? This is one of the major employers in our town. Please fight to help save this beautiful home and the people it cares for and employs.Berwick is known for its tenacity in situations like this.We fought -successfully- to get the BMU up and running again. We can do the same here.
