Service, Hygiene and Maintenance at Nelspruit Rob Ferreira Hospital

The Issue

While visiting Nelspruit Rob Ferreira Hospital recently, we encountered a state of resolute neglect that was both shocking and disheartening. The outside of the hospital was not just unhygienic and filthy, but the overall maintenance was a disgrace. Wheelchairs were in non existence, beds were in poor condition, and linen and pillows were non-existent.

The food is DISGRACEFUL to give that to patients to eat. No cutlery to eat the food. The wards were just as dirty, with unclean surfaces and smeared walls. The bathrooms were out of order and lacked hot water supply. There were open electricity fittings, endangering patient lives. Broken windows are left unrepaired. The public toilets were in a despicable condition.

Nelspruit Rob Ferreira Hospital, despite being one of the major hospitals in our region, presents a grim picture of the state of public health infrastructure. An environment of filth and neglect is certainly not conducive to healing or maintaining good health - it could potentially harm those coming in for treatment.

The lack of proper infrastructure and maintenance structure not only erodes patients' dignity but risks their health and safety, disrupting the provision of quality healthcare services. Our community deserves better. We must urge the hospital administration and relevant government authorities to address these issues urgently.

With over 210,000 residents in Nelspruit relying on such medical facilities, it's time we hold our public service providers to account. Let's demand improvements in the hygienic conditions and comprehensive maintenance of our Nelspruit Rob Ferreira Hospital.

Take a stand and let's ensure that Nelspruit Rob Ferreira Hospital becomes a symbol of good health, not the sorry state it currently is. Sign this petition now. Demand better for Nelspruit! Demand better for our hospital! Sign now!
