We would like to see an alert system similar to the Amber Alert implemented for hit-and-run accidents. We need to bring to justice those who would intentionally leave an injured person to die or be severely disabled.

Based on numbers published by the U.S. Department of Transportation in the 2009-2013 Traffic Safety Facts for Texas Fatalities, Pedestrian accounted for an average of 13.01% (2009-2013), and Bicyclists and Other Cyclists accounted for an average of 1.49% 2009-2013).

As you know, we had our own morbid case of hit and run last year with cyclist Eduardo Arguelles in Edinburg. In his case those who committed the crime were brought to justice only because they were spotted trying to dispose of his body in another part of the county.

The majority of these cases go unsolved. We need to stop this!

Join me in bringing attention to this cause. Encourage our lawmakers to bring this law into being. Please encourage them to initiate and pass a bill that will implement an alert system state-wide for victims of hit-and-run.
