My dogs of six months old and now turning ten are the healthiest dogs. They eat home cooked food, walk 2-3 times a day, have not had pesticide flea & tick products put on them. We were having a flea/tick problem and decided to try SENTRY Natural Defense because it said safe, natural & effective. The Flea & Tick Shampoo and Flea & Tick Squeeze On were purchased on a website called "Organic Pet Boutique." We read the instructions and the Q & A on Sentry's website. It states "SENTRY Natural Defense products can be used as often as necessary," "Safe around people and other pets," "Yes, SENTRY Natural Defense are safe to use together," "Remember that you can re-apply the products at anytime safely," "Safe if ingested." After reading this we trusted the product and label. We used the shampoo on all 3 dogs. We noticed the dogs still had fleas and ticks and were scratching like crazy. 2/3 dogs lost a lot of hair on their tail and back & 3/3 dogs had constant tearing/red eyes yet the shampoo was put nowhere near their head. We thought the scratching was due to the fleas but after research it was the product burning their skin and causing their hair to fall out. We tried the squeeze on the day before Easter 2015 and 24 hours later, Saki (Shibu Inu) was shaking, panting and could not use his back legs. He was rushed to the vet. I took Buddha and Dharma (corgis) for a walk and minutes into the walk notice Dharma was behind me and usually walks in the front. I turn around and she is walking in a stiff march, foaming, eyes rolling and panting. I rushed her to the vet. She was on fluids all day. Her bloodworm, tick disease tests all came back negative. She was FINE...yet her system was shutting down. There was no explanation for 2/3 dogs acting like this and the one constant was SENTRY. Saki did start walking again but could not jump for about two weeks after and he always slept on a bed. Dharma fought for a few weeks to recover. It was heartbreaking. She had to be lifted up over a step and carried to go outside. Whoever held her, their arm would break out into hives or a rash. She ate fine, drank, she could use the bathroom with help but could no longer go on walks. She had a thick saliva that would drool out of her mouth. She could not open her mouth all the way and she would choke so she had to eat soft food. She lost her bark and voice. On Monday 4.27.15 Dharma was laying down and she started to pant and she couldn't lift her head up. I picked her up and she was limp. She was dying. I rushed her to the vet and they couldn't figure it out. She gave her stuff to boost her system and a few hours later she actually looked really good. The next few days I thought she was doing great. I said to myself I think she is going to be fine. On 4.30.15 in the evening...Saki and Buddha kept staying by her side. She kept following everyone, wouldn't be alone. In the evening she started a heavy breathing and almost a hiccup noise. She walked in my room and I was talking to her. I said "Dharma Im taking you to the vet in the am you have to get some sleep" and I pet her and even took video of her, not realizing it would be the last one. She looked at me and walked out of the room and my mom was at the end of the hallway and saw her drop to the ground and pee. She yelled for me to get the keys to take her to the emergency. We wrapped her in the blanket and she passed away in the car in our arms on the way to the emergency. We are heartbroken and miss her. She was part of the family. We love our animals. We trusted this product and it killed her. After researching there are hundreds and hundreds of stories on www.consumeraffairs.com just type in SENTRY. The same reactions, the same stories, dogs/cats dying and getting sick from SENTRY products and pet owners devastated. Something needs to be done. There is something wrong with the ingredients or the percentage of oils that is very toxic. This needs to be investigated so no more animals die. We are the voices to our animals and why I am speaking out. In memory of Dharma and all the other dogs/cats who have also passed away from SENTRY I hope there is a change. Please sign and share.
