Animal Transportation Regulations

Animal Transportation Regulations
As a young women living in a farming and ranching community, agriculture plays a major role in my life. After doing an abundant amount of research I read a statistic that stated, " 9% (which is greater than 850 million) animals never even make it to slaughter, because they die of stress, induced diseases, or injury during transport. Trucks are so overcrowded animals are unable to rest and may trample or fight with one another looking for space, causing injury, sickness, and death. There is a 28 hr law enforced where transporters must stop and let animals eat, drink, and rest for a minimum of 5 hrs. I feel like this law needs to be more enforced by stepping up the monitoring and shorting the travel time significantly. I feel like I need to bring awareness to the staggering costs of wasted product and how it impacts the money market. As an agriculturist who raises livestock to benefit myself and others, I believe we should respect animals used as product and treat them humanely and with dignity.
