Members of the families of recent Senatobia (MS) High School graduates Larnacia Walker and Lakaydra Miller expressed their pride during the graduation ceremonies for their children by cheering their graduation announcement. Prior to the ceremonies, Superintendent Foster had asked those in attendance to hold their applause until the end of the ceremonies, or else they would be asked to leave. Members of the Walker and Miller family were asked to leave and complied peacefully with those requests.

However, in what constitutes a gross abuse of power on Foster's part (and a possible violation of the First Amendment), Foster has chosen to file criminal charges against the family members for "disturbing the peace". These charges include monetary fines and potential jail time.

The people of Senatobia deserve better leadership than this. Foster's actions are an abuse of power and a misuse of taxpayer money in order to harass and intimidate several individuals who did nothing wrong other than expressing their personal pride in their children having graduated.

We hereby demand that Superintendent Jay Foster immediately submit his resignation for this blatant abuse of power. In the absence of Superintendent Foster's voluntary resignation, we ask that the Senatobia Public School District immediately take measures to remove Superintendent Foster from his position for his disturbing actions and the shame he has brought upon the community and the local school system.
