This petition is for Moses, a Yellow Lab, who, at the end, looked like an emaciated Greyhound.

It is my desire to raise awareness about the lack of equality the law provides regarding violence and cruelty against animals. Animals, particularly domesticated ones, are mammals. Taking care of offspring after birth is a common trait of mammals. I believe that equality towards the value and quality of life, should be given to animals. As Elder abuse is a growing concern in this country, it can be fully attributed to their defenselessness. This same condition obviously impacts animals. It is my belief that as a living, loving and nurturing life form, animals should be given the same consideration by the law as humans. Any act of cruelty, violence, neglect and refusal to provide a safe environment for their health and well being should be considered a felony. It is my belief that we, as a nation, will witness a positive impact as a result of said perpetrators truly paying for the capricious treatment of our friends. These animals are our companions, they enrich our lives, they provide services for the disabled and they put their lives on the line as police officers and enlisted service animals. They are our protectors and comedians. Please sign this petition to press for a change in the law. A change long overdue and without it, things will continue to happen at the expense of beautiful beings and our very sanity.
