Selma city, Alamo NEX, Webber LLC, Tx DOT should be accountable for construction damages.
The Issue
Our neighborhood in Selma, Texas, is more than just a few homes on a circle; it's the heart of a community where everyone cares for and looks out for each other. It's a place where our children joyfully play in the neighborhood, where the streets and sidewalks should be open and safe, not blocked by unexpected repairs or flooded with water due to infrastructure issues. In the scorching 100-degree weather, our children should be playing outside with adequate access to water, not watching it go to waste down the street. They shouldn't be having to avoid deep crevices / cracks due to the ground shifting so dramatically. our little circle of homes called Chelsea crossing is being bombarded by earth moving construction completely surrounding our community. ATT is doing some kind of expansion where they are adding more depth and widening the green belt or creek on the Northeast or the neighborhood, and we have all to known, interstate 35 being built by Alamo NEX Construction and a joint venture of Ferrovial Construction U.S. and Webber LLC. They are in charge of a 9.5-mile stretch with a contracted value of 1.5 billion dollars. We also have Developers who were moving earth and clearing lands for new homes and were having contractors setting form layouts for the new home foundations that are now, at a halt because they said it was a very bad idea to have so much construction being done in one localized area.
Recently, with the series of water leaks, heavy rain, continuous movement by all these heavy earth moving machines, giant cranes and numerous concrete I beams being hauled back and forth, its plaguing our community. with the leaks, occurring over the Labor Day weekend, the road in our circle opening up, our homes now suffering some unreal cracks int he ceiling, walls, flooring, tiles popping off the ground, and doors to our rooms, sheds, and doorways into our home are being pressed into a position that will not allow us to open it anymore. these have resulted in significant damage to our homes, as homeowners, single families, veterans, our community young and old, we are struggling to afford the financial burden of these repairs that are not cause by natural causes.
The city of Selma, has allowed ambitious construction projects, including a new loop, With Alamo NEX, Ferrovial Construction and Webber LLC, and Tx DOT working together along with numerous contractors working with developers in Shertz Tx, have unfortunately caused unintentional but serious damages to our homes. These impacts are not individual homeowner faults; rather, they are the result of both city's expansion efforts. It is unjust and unreasonable to expect the residents to bear the financial burden of these repairs.
We are calling upon the city of Selma to take responsibility for the damages that their construction projects have caused. This includes compensating homeowners for the costs associated with repairing damaged pipes and any other structural damages caused by these projects. By doing so, Selma can uphold its commitment to its residents, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for all.
Join us in urging the city of Selma and major construction companies to address this urgent issue. Sign this petition to advocate for accountability and fairness. Together, we can ensure our beloved community remains a place where we all thrive and our children feel safe and happy. Sign now to make a difference.
