I am personally stirred by unnecessary retention of land in the worship of Shiva and the practice of Shaivism across the globe. We see that devotees are dwindling in number everywhere and this, I believe, makes the existence of the Pashupatinath Temple redundant. The temple, located in Kathmandu, Nepal, has been a dedicated place for Shiva worship for centuries. However, the shifting religious preferences and beliefs of people today question the necessity of maintaining such a site. In fact, according to a recent report by Pew Research Center, the number of people identifying as Shaivites has significantly diminished over the years (Pew Research Center, 2015). This marked decline is indicative of cultural evolution and adaptation, aspects we should embrace rather than resist. Given the circumstances, it seems fitting to reconsider the importance of keeping this religious monument's land for sale.
