Get Sega to make a new Alex Kidd game for the 30th Anniversary
The Issue
Alex Kidd is a platforming IP created by Sega in 1986, but has not had an official game since the 1990 release of 'Alex Kidd in Shinobi World', which was only released in North America and Europe. That marks 25 whole years without an Alex Kidd game.I personally think a new Alex Kidd game would do well as a small digital title release on the Nintendo eShop, or possibly even Steam, PlayStation Network and Xbox Live. This game could be a sequel similar to Miracle World or possibly a remaster of it. Retro-style platformers are becoming increasingly popular, with incredible titles such as Shovel Knight and Spelunky receiving a superb reception from both critics and players themselves. This would coincide perfectly with the Alex Kidd 30th Anniversary next year (this year in Japan) and introduce newer generation gamers to the former Sega mascot. History (Main series)Alex Kidd in Miracle World'Alex Kidd in Miracle World' was released in Japan in 1986 and internationally in 1987 for the Master Systemand was met with outstanding reviews and still holds up extremely well today. Computer and Video Games magazine gave it an 86% in 1991 and IGN even gave the Wii Virtual Console release a score of 9/10 Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars'Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars' was an arcade game released in 1986, but was ported to the master System in 1988. The arcade version featured Stella, a female counterpart to Alex which served as the second player. The game didn't have an amazing reception because of the changed formula, but, in my opinion, was still a rather solid game. Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle'Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle' was released for the Sega Genesis (Mega Drive) in Japan in 1989, while Europe got it in 1990 and the US in 1991. To some, Enchanted Castle is considered the only true sequel to the first game. Admittedly, the game didn't receive an amazing reception, but showed a lot of potential.
