Covid Support For Taxis in Liverpool City Boroughs

Covid Support For Taxis in Liverpool City Boroughs
The Issue
We are looking for financial support for the Taxi industry in The Boroughs of Liverpool City region, due to the catastrophic effects of the pandemic.
Trade in the industry has collapsed to 20% of what it was pre pandemic while safety and costs have risen exponentially. Added to existing costs of insurance, maintenance, tax, licensing are that of PPE and disinfectant products all now essential to the trade to try and keep customers and drivers safe.
In Boroughs outside of Liverpool City so far only drivers have received a paltry amount of just £100, excluding all the other key members of the industry. Expecting us to survive the dangers and financial burden of the pandemic on a fee that equates to 27p a day decreasing with every day we don't get support. What makes this amount worse is the fact that it seems to be the lowest in the nation, with areas like Rochdale and Northumberland seeing 5x the support, Dacorum 7.5x and even Liverpool and Warrington over 2x. How could a sum be reached that values us so significantly less?
We are asking the Mayor, MPs and councillors to rethink and reassess this insulting level of support while we continue to provide a service that is proving to be essential to our front line workers and most vulnerable.
