The Issue

Trimble Forward Alliance has been working since the closure of Trimble Elementary School to establish a new public charter school in Trimble, TN. This initiative is the first of its kind for rural West Tennessee. Many of you have attended meetings and provided financial support, for which we are extremely grateful. To move forward with our application, we need to show that we have UNWAVERING SUPPORT from the greater Trimble/Dyer County community. It is vital that everyone who sees the benefit of a school in Trimble, whether you are affected directly or indirectly, to please sign this on-line petition to show your support.

This initiative will bring so much to our community, including academic opportunities, economic growth, and a much-needed sustainability plan for our city government and community as a whole. Subject to approval, the school will open in Fall 2027 as a K-5 with approximately 112 students. Plans include expanding to a K-8 school, adding one grade level each year, and eventually, a second class for each grade. As a public charter school, we have more freedom and flexibility to design our educational options while adhering to the same standards as other public schools, ensuring each student meets the needs for post-secondary education and technical training. This includes hiring experienced administration, licensed teachers, partnering with local resources who can aid in our educational programing, and providing top-notch, evidence-based curriculums. After much research, we are partnering with Tennessee Classical Academies, www.tnclassicalacademies.com to offer a classical curriculum coupled with an outdoor learning environment.

We encourage you to look at their program to see for yourself what this initiative can bring to our community. We feel it is important to note that this is not a private school or a faith-based institution; it is funded by federal, state, and local tax dollars, just like any other public school in our state. Families are not required to pay tuition to attend. Trimble Academy will provide a FREE, small community school option to the residents of Trimble and Dyer County. Students from other counties will be considered when openings are available, subject to state guidelines. Your support is greatly appreciated and crucially needed. We are encouraged by the residents in our town and county who have already shown support. If you have any questions or concerns before committing your support, please reach out to Margaret Prater, TFA President.  Note: If change.org asks for a donation, this money does not go to our local school effort. You are not required or encouraged to pay or donate to sign this petition.
