On April 16, 2024, a devastating tragedy occurred. Amado Dominic Escobedo III was brutally shot and killed by a 17-year-old individual. In the same incident, his friend who tried to protect him was also shot seven times. This horrifying event has left a deep scar on our family and community. My son was loved by many; he left behind his family and his baby girl who will now grow up without her father.

On April 22, 2024, the suspect was found - detained on other charges - but then rebooked for the murder of my son and attempted murder of his friend. We are asking for justice in this case; we believe that due to the severity of this crime, it is only right that this individual be tried as an adult.

This petition is not just about seeking justice for one person or one family; it's about ensuring that our legal system acknowledges the gravity of such violent acts committed by individuals regardless of their age. It's about making sure no other family has to go through what we have experienced.
