Help Musi River Survive

Help Musi River Survive
Musi river, located in Hyderabad, has been struggling to survive for many years due to pollution. It is located in the center of a metropolitan area with 7,500,000 inhabitants, making it the main source of drinking water for many. According to a study done by Osmania University in 2017, the basin of the river receives 654 million liters of waste water every day. The Musi River is one of the most polluted rivers in the world.
One of the main issues causing the Musi River to be so polluted is that most of the water in the river is actually sewage being dumped into it by the millions living there. All the sewage being dumped into the water causes E. coli, the bacteria in human waste, which infects the water and causes disease. Another reason for the Musi River struggling is due to the industrial and domestic waste being dumped into it. Research has shown that with the presence of almost 300 drug firms, the river has been mixed with antibiotics, worsening the situation for the survival of the river.
There are many possible solutions to help the river survive but the correct action is not being taken. Technology like proper drainage systems and waste water treatment plants need to be installed. Small things like turning the water off while brushing your teeth, or using low flow toilets and shower heads can make a huge difference. Drug firms and factories being placed farther away from the rivers can also make a difference. They can reduce or even eliminate hazardous materials used to make their products.
It is time for an action to be taken. By working together we, as a community, can make a huge impact on the Musi River and eventually have a drastic change on the amount of waste being dumped into it. We, as a community can help the Musi River survive.
