Securus Tech is the leading prison phone/video provider in the U.S.  They acquired Jpay in 2017 and are now phasing that business out.  In doing so, they have the monopoly rights to all contact by phone, message or video in Texas [by contract with TDCJ] and most states in the U.S.

Families of inmates are subject to high costs and absorbant fees.  Their systems regularly overcharge, double charge or fail to connect.

In 2017, I submitted a payment on securus using my valid Bank debit card.  That card was charged twice and caused overdraft fees.  Securus would not respond to my inquiries and no supervisor returned my calls.  To this day, no one, to include Texas Senate and House Reps cared to even try to respond.  After trying to get a response and failing, I contacted my bank who initiated a dispute.  Because I disputed the 2nd charge, SECURUS suspended any and all payments to the account by debit or credit card.  I tried to use my cards on new accounts or my son's account or use their cards on my account and it will not let me pay by debit or credit.

The company did not advise me of this and when I requested by laws for what they were doing, it was never provided...I was just hung up on.

My loved one has a life sentence.  Securus is a monopoly in Texas and the nation.  They should not have the right to deny payment when it was THEIR ERROR and non-response for dispute.  

This is happening in every state to multiple people.  We are not given any type of reason why we were suspended and only given the option to send in a money order or check, which next to no one uses.  The block denies access and the monopoly denies any other business to assist or use to contact.  With everything going digital, blanket payment blocks should not be allowed unless there is positive and full investigative proof that there was illegal activity.
