“Secure the Texas Grid” Call to action!  

Yesterday we held the “Secure the Texas Grid Event” in the Capitol Auditorium.   Senator’s Bob Hall, Kevin Sparks, Kolkhorst, and Representatives Wes Videll, Ellen Troxclair, and Brent Money provided information on their bills to be hand delivered with our petition of over 3900 signatures, over 30 pages, to each office of the members of the House State Affairs Committee and House Calendars Committee.  Thank you for signing the petition!

Our “Call to action” today, where you can really magnify your impact is;

1.      Send a short, polite email to Chairman Ken King at  https://house.texas.gov/members/2455/email  requesting a hearing of SB075.  This is the most important bill for Texas Grid Security in this legislative session.  In past sessions similar bills has been killed by a small group of utilities that had control the house votes.  This bill establishes commission led by our own Texas Department of Emergency Management to prevent hazards, like physical, cyber, EMP and Solar Weather from taking our power grid down.  It lays the ground work for addressing all hazards including the many BESS hazards and influence from foreign adversaries.    You may also call Ken King’s office to inquire “When will this bill be heard in his committee?” at (512) 463-0736.   Please be polite to the staff.  They are working long hours and truly are trying to do their best for us.

2.      We also want to show our strong support of HB1378 by Virdell in our online testimony which is being heard in State Affairs tomorrow, Wednesday.  This “good neighbor” bill will create a minimum offset for BESS’s of 500 yards from neighboring property lines.  You can submit your testimony https://comments.house.texas.gov/home?c=c450 anytime before the end of their committee session tomorrow.
