I am presenting my personally distressing story to the world. I stand before you today as an individual who currently has no place to call 'home'. I am homeless. This will resonate with the near 550,000 people in the United States who share the same struggle on a daily basis, based on data from the Council of Economic Advisers (December, 2019). It is apparent that this issue is not given adequate attention imposed by society. We need immediate, constructive, long-lasting solutions. Greater resources need to be allotted to public programs designed to assist the homeless. More affordable housing projects, increased access to healthcare and job prospects are essential steps forward. Today, I petition for improved conditions for the homeless. Making this change is not just a duty towards countless American citizens, including myself, but also to humanity altogether. We call on you, the representatives of the people, as we insist on urgent action. Please sign this petition and support our plea for secure shelter for the homeless.
