Secure Road Access for Meadow Run Residents

Secure Road Access for Meadow Run Residents
The Issue
Meadow Run, a 91-lot residential neighborhood in Martin County, Florida, thrives on community and accessibility. Nestled off SW Citrus Avenue, our neighborhood comprises families, professionals, and retirees who have chosen this peaceful area as home. However, our access is currently limited due to a restriction of the original site plan, where access via SW Leighton Farms Road is reserved exclusively for emergencies.
This restriction has deeply impacted our daily lives. Many residents face potential emergency delays due to limited routes, inconvenience, increased travel times, and no way out of the neighborhood if SW Citrus is blocked or closed. The community, united in interest and necessity, has taken proactive steps to amend the site plan, advocating for rightful access through the public county road which runs along its SE boarder. Our request is simple yet essential for improving safety, accessibility, and practicality for all Meadow Run residents.
Alarmingly, an adjoining property owner is attempting to thwart this amendment, citing excess traffic coming from the 91 lot neighborhood where only 33 homes are currrently built. He wants personal control over the county public road and has garnered support from the parents of a soccer facility his tenants operate located on SW Leighton Farm Ave. The true problem is this soccer facility is a NON-Agricultural Business operating in a Agriculture Ranchette Zone! The soccer business brings excess traffic onto Leighton Farm Ave that legally should not be there. Meadow Run simply wants to share the public roadway and has followed the county's extensive process to gain approval from Growth Management while the soccer academy and soccer fields operate with out the required permits or business licenses.
Legally, we seek rightful access to a public road that should be available for all residents, enhancing community relations and ensuring emergency services can operate without unnecessary hindrances. The County Commissioners of Martin County hold the power to address this issue. By voting in favor of our amendment, commissioners would not only endorse community solidarity but also prioritize public safety and access. Again, Martin County Growth Management has recommended the site plan amendment for approval and Meadow Run has fulfilled all requirements to become approved.
We urge the County Commissioners of Palm City, FL, to vote affirmatively for Meadow Run's access through SW Leighton Farms Road. By supporting this amendment, you ensure the equitable and fair use of public resources, respect community needs, and uphold the integrity of public infrastructure. Stand with Meadow Run and support your constituents' right to a safe, accessible, and thriving community.
Sign this petition to show your support for our cause and urge the County Commissioners to help us achieve equitable access. Together, we can make a difference for our Meadow Run residents and all Martin County residents who follow the procedures, follow the rules, and follow the law- the same cannot be said for those in opposition of this site plan amendment.
