Secure Land for Wildlife Conservation in Rainsville, Alabama
The Issue
I have always been passionate about animals and the breathtaking beauty of nature that Alabama is renowned for. As a resident of Rainsville, I've watched our community grow rapidly, sparking fears that we might lose the natural splendor that defines our state.
Rainsville is surrounded by cities like Sylvania, Fort Payne, and Mentone; all of which have set aside untouched land for wildlife conservation. Sylvania has its lake while Fort Payne boasts Little River and Mentone is home to DeSoto. It's time for Rainsville to follow suit.
Our city does not currently have any designated areas strictly dedicated to animal and wildlife conservation. This lack of protected land threatens local biodiversity and disrupts ecosystems integral to our environment's health.
Alabama hosts over 900 vertebrate species including mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians (Outdoor Alabama). Our state also houses numerous endangered species such as the Red Hills salamander or the Alabama beach mouse (U.S Fish & Wildlife Service). These creatures need safe habitats where they can thrive without interference from human development.
This petition calls on the city of Rainsville to purchase an untouched spot of residential land or wetland specifically for animal and wildlife conservation purposes. By doing so we can ensure a future where both humans and animals coexist harmoniously in this beautiful part of Alabama.
Please sign this petition if you believe in preserving what makes our state truly beautiful - its rich biodiversity - before it's too late.
