Secure Funding for Friendship Aspire STEM Academy

The Issue

Friendship Aspire STEM Academy was approved by Prince George’s County Public Schools to open the first STEM-based charter school in the City of Bowie in 2023. In 2024,  Friendship Aspire STEM Academy opened its doors to the inaugural group of Kindergarten and First Grade students at a temporary location with the goal of opening in South Lake the following academic year. Unfortunately, Friendship Aspire STEM Academy is continuing to operate in the temporary location without the foreseeable funding to build in South Lake.

As a parent of a student at Friendship Aspire STEM Academy and a resident of South Lake in Bowie, MD, I am compelled to bring attention to a growing need at our beloved school and community.

Friendship Aspire STEM Academy has the opportunity to provide a quality education for many students in our community, offering a specialized curriculum in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). These disciplines are crucial for our children’s future, preparing them for success in an increasingly technological world.

Currently, the lack of funding for charter schools and resources is a significant barrier. Our kids deserve access to modern classrooms and curricula that prepare them adequately for the challenges of tomorrow.

Let’s advocate together for this cause and reach out to Prince George’s County officials, Governor Wes Moore, Maryland legislators, and the broader community to secure the funds needed for the future stability and success of Friendship Aspire STEM Academy in Bowie, MD. Our children’s future and our community's well-being are worth it.

Please join me in signing this petition to push for the vital resources our school desperately needs.
