For over three decades, Lizzie’s Food Truck—fondly known as Lizzie’s Curbside—has been more than just a place to grab a meal. Lizzie is a cherished part of the UConn Storrs community, serving not only food but also warmth, familiarity, and a sense of home. However, the temporary closure of Whitney Road now threatens the ability of this beloved small business to continue operating in a prime and accessible location.

While the Whitney Road closure is necessary for infrastructure improvements and public safety, it is equally important that these changes do not overlook the local businesses that contribute to the heart of our campus. Lizzie’s Curbside is one of them.

We urge the administration to work with Lizzie to secure a temporary location on Fairfield Way—a central and accessible area—so she can continue serving students, faculty, and staff without significant disruption. With many community members struggling to reach her food truck between classes, meetings, and breaks, this adjustment would help ensure that Lizzie remains a part of our daily lives. Without change, there is a strong chance it will not be financially feasible for her to continue at all.
