Rename Fort Hood to honor Jackie Robinson

Rename Fort Hood to honor Jackie Robinson
The Issue
Fort Hood is currently named for a Confederate General, and needs to be renamed immediately. We believe the new name of this army base should honor an African-American Veteran who dedicated his life to strive for change, 2nd Lt., and the man who broke the color barrier in Major League Baseball, Jackie Robinson.
Jackie Robinson deserves to have this installation named after him because he served at Fort Hood. After integrating Officer Candidate School at Fort Riley with fellow pioneer Joe Louis, Robinson was assigned to the 761st "Black Panther" Tank Division, stationed at Fort Hood, in January 1943.
In July of 1944, Robinson experienced overt racism at this base when he was told to move to the back of what was supposed to be an unsegregated bus. When he refused, the driver summoned Military Police to arrest him. After questioning the racist actions he endured at the hands of those MPs, a concerted effort to court martial him began. He was later acquitted, but the damage from speaking out derailed his career in the Army.
If Trump is serious about honoring, "...a great American Heritage, a...history of Winning, Victory and Freedom. The United States of America trained and deployed our HEROES on these Hallowed Grounds...", it is only logical to rename this base from a racist traitor to this country, to a true American Hero, who never let the racism he experienced keep him from winning.
We hope to continue on the right path to honor the true heroes of this country, the people who fight for change. This action could lead to all of the bases named after Confederates being renamed after influential African-Americans who once served at them. All traces of the Confederacy need to be removed from current U.S. Government properties!
