Those who petitioned for outcomes other than mediation have today received their answer from Government.
CEDAWinLAW's position remains unchanged. We have long been calling for mediation in order to take account in any settlement talks of substantial evidence of proven discrimination and the discriminatory impact of the State Pension Age changes upon 50s Women.
We are joined today by the Co-Chairs of the APPG who also now call for mediation with representatives of all groups, with Rebecca Long-Bailey today saying "So if the Government is serious about justice, it must engage directly with the women affected. I am calling for meaningful consultation or mediation with 1950s-born women and their representatives to shape what fair and proportionate compensation should look like in practice"
This petition calling unequivocally for mediation approaches 50k signatures and stands as testimony to our long campaign.
CEDAWinLAW holds the evidence, has the legal arguments in place and a Top 500 team of Mediators is on standby to be considered for the neutral role.
BREAKING NEWS OUT OF CEDAWinLAW from 27th January 2026:
"Today the Secretary of State has been made aware by a fellow Member of Parliament - who has not signed Mr Steve Darling's exclusive letter dated 22nd January 2026 - that "if the Secretary of State makes a decision as to the resolution of the 1950s women pension dispute by failing to also consider representations eg. CEDAWinLAW, at least, then that decision lays itself open to judicial review"
We respectfully turn to the Rt Hon David Lammy MP, Lord Chancellor, Deputy Prime Minister, Secretary Of State for Justice as guardian of the rule of law inside government ensuring that its legal obligations are met, Mr Lammy has a duty to challenge or resist proposals that would knowingly breach statute or invite Parliament to legislate contrary to the UK's legal obligations. Secretary McFadden's statement - as overseen by eg. The Rt Hon David Lammy - must comply with these obligations.
The Rt Hon Sir George Howarth MP's group calling for Mediation included 7 Party Leaders and cross-Party Members from both Houses in the hundreds.
A Top 500 team of Mediators is on standby to be considered for the neutral mediation role as all interested parties have been made aware by CEDAWinLAW's legal advisors.
Under Civil Procedure Rules, no legal challenge is necessary to seek Mediation which the Courts welcome"

Submission to the Commission on the Status of Women on Access to Justice
Further to the above, Hon Dr Jocelynne Scutt AO announced that she will be making a submission regarding Access to Justice responding to the call for issues affecting older women, from Ms Reem Amsalem, Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women, at the Commission on the Status of Women in New York in March 26.
Dr Scutt's submission will focus on Access to Justice & Women's Pension Rights, which have been breached in the case of 50sWomen
David Lammy, as guardian of the rule of law, must ensure decisions taken by Pat McFadden take account of all relevant considerations
ie CEDAWinLAW and other groups who have evidence of issues of both direct and indirect discrimination on grounds of age, sex/gender and marital status and who call collectively for mediation
Please join the call for mediation by both signing this petition and sharing it widely!
