Join with all groups in calling for mediation!
Listen for yourself to the 3 separate recordings from Salford City Radio @SalfordCRadio broadcast on 5th August 2025, explaining:
- the legal obligations of the UK Government regarding the injustice done to 1950s born women
- the winning hand that 50sWomen hold
- why mediation is a far more sensible way forward for all 50sWomen to address ALL of the issues rather than pursuing expensive litigation addressing only parts

An Open Letter calling for all groups to unite in calling for Mediation rather than Litigation has been sent in early August 2025 to all 1950s women's groups.
The text of the letter appears as addendum 1 below this update
A letter requesting clarification on CEDAWinLAW's Amicus Curiae submission to the Court has also been sent, after the judge Mr Justice Swift granted a cost-capping order to WASPI without a hearing.
The text of this letter also appears as addendum 2 below this update
"London is a global centre of dispute resolution...& will continue to be so"
So said the Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales the Rt Baroness Carr of Walton on the Hill
50sWomen wish to see evidence for this, as we have been calling for CEDAWinLAW-led mediation rather than litigation for 3yrs, supported by the "Winning Hand" as described by Joanne Welch in her radio interview
CALL TO ACTION: Write to the Secretary of State to demand mediation
Please will as many 50sWomen as possible take time-out ASAP to write to the Secretary of State Work & Pensions, to express your support & your demand for CEDAWinLAW led MEDIATION rather than LITIGATION
WASPI supporters are urged to encourage their leadership to join with other groups in the call for Mediation, in line with the CEDAW Treaty, CEDAW General Recommendation 40 (women's voices must be at decision-making tables) and Civil Procedure Rules on the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution (Mediation)

Open Letter to all 1950s Women's Groups
Dear John
Judicial Review
We trust this finds you well.
We write in the best interests of all parties on behalf of 3.5m 1950s Women whom
CEDAWinLAW uniquely represents to respectfully encourage Waspi Limited to visibly
welcome - in an update to its crowdfund page - CEDAWinLAW's 'Friends of the Court'
evidence submission dated 16th June 2025 where breached and enforceable UK &
International Laws - hitherto not in front of it - were outlined for the Court's consideration.
Seven weeks ago, on 20th June, Waspi Limited was granted a Cost Capping Order without a hearing but has yet to progress its proposed legal challenge neither has it updated its crowdfund page since announcing that news itself.
*It is noted that the PHSO Report has been repeatedly rejected by the Govt, Govt lawyers and this season by the majority of MPs who had formerly signed pledges of support.
Committees' interventions and numerous parliamentary debates based solely on the PHSO Report have proved to be fruitless. On 4th July 2025, Labour's governing party objected to the SNP's Deputy Leader's attempt to secure a second reading of a bill in the House of Commons in the same matter.
A Top 500-ranked team of Mediators is on standby to be considered for the neutral
Mediation role should Ministers agree to it and/or a Court order it.
In the light of the most recent facts outlined in the above paragraph*, we respectfully urge Waspi Limited to favourably consider an opportunity to immediately call together - with all 1950s Women's groups - for Mediation in line with the CEDAW Treaty, General Recommendation 40 and CPR/ADR (Mediation) guidance.
With sincere good wishes to all concerned who surely now agree that a good compromise is one where everybody makes a contribution.
With kind regards
Joanne Welch

A letter requesting clarification on CEDAWinLAW's Amicus Curiae submission to the Court :
Dear Progression Officer
"URGENT AC-2025-LON-000811"
Amicus Curiae, Cost Capping and Observer Status
Thank you for copying CEDAWinLAW into the quoted email hereunder to all parties in the above regard, dated 4th August, received by CEDAWinLAW on 8th August 2025 and crossing our letter to your good self dated 6th August.
Respectfully, may we request clarification of Mr Justice Swift's decision referred to in the Court's quoted email hereunder "not to take any action" on the documents dated 16th June 2025 submitted ahead of Waspi Limited being granted a Cost Capping Order - without a hearing - on 20th June 2025, 3 days ahead of a scheduled court hearing.
It is noted that parties may wish to make applications arising from these documents as they are free to do so.
In passing, we respectfully highlight "London is a global centre of dispute resolution, not just that it was, but it is, and it will continue to be so." - The Rt Hon the Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill, Lady Chief Justice of England & Wales, which complements your own email where transparency is mentioned.
The Civil Procedure Rules on Alternative Dispute Resolution (Mediation) and the ratified CEDAW Treaty, General Recommendation 40, clearly resonate with Lady Chief Justice's stated view, not least, where enforceable laws are onside all 1950s Women victims.
With your transparency lead in mind and with Mediation at the forefront of our mission, we attach an 'OPEN LETTER' addressed to Bindmans LLP which encourages all parties to reach a compromise via the Top 500-ranked team of Mediators on standby to be considered for the neutral role.
We keenly look forward to receiving clarification of Mr Justice Swift's decision and trust that the Court agrees that a good compromise is one where everybody makes a contribution.
With every good wish
Joanne Welch Founder CEDAWinLAW
Copy email to all parties from Provision Officer
"URGENT AC-2025-LON-000811" dated 4th August 2025 11.45hrs
Dear Sir/ Madam, Mr Justice Swift has asked that we forward the documents to the parties and inform them that the documents were sent to him and he does not intend to take any action on them. The documents are sent to you for your information. If the parties wish to make any applications arising from these documents, they are free to do so.
In relation to CEDAWinLAW’s application for documents in the case, the provisions of CPR 5.4C apply therefore it is open CEDAWinLAW to make an application (complying with the requirements of 5.4D) either for the statement of case (5.4C(1)) or for any other document (5.4C(2)). If any application is made, the parties will be given an opportunity to give their views.
Kind regards,
Mrs Erica Rainho
