Deepak Trehan started this petition to Secretary, Health and Family Welfare at Nirman Bhawan New Delhi

The Pharmacy Profession as a Industry is flourishing as a shining star and ironically Pharmacare services in healthcare sector is being diminishing day by day in a organized way by few people who are remotely controlled by a particular lobby. In the absence of a proper Pharmacare system will definitely increasing morbidity and mortality among general public due to medication errors in hospitals and community. The newly introduced Pharmacy Education Regulations-2020 (ER-2020) will definitely put up a cap on the growth of Pharmacy Profession in community with just two years Diploma Course in Pharmacy. We want One Nation One Pharmacy Course and One Licence policy in Pharmacy. Further, we also request to create One Nation One Cadre for Pharmacy Professionals to deliver their Pharmacare services in a justified manner. The potential of a Pharmacist is under estimated in Govt Sector and poor patients are deprived of his true Pharmacare services. Further, poor policies leading to huge patient queues at Pharmacy counters  and forcing Pharmacists to do distribution of medicines instead of proper dispensing and patient counselling. Further, Drugs & Medical stores are dominated by other categories. Pharmacists are already out of all National Health Programmes and CHO post in NHM. The matter of Pharmacy issues are governed by two different Sections at MoHFW that is Drug Regulation Section and Allied Health Services Section. It seems The Pharmacy Council of India is beyond their control in bringing different courses and regulations without consulting DRS Section. There are too many defficiencies and discrepancies in the regulation of Pharmacy Profession by PCI leading to huge unemployment of Pharmacy Professionals and forcing highly qualified/educated professionals to work on penny to run their livelihood. There is no place for highly educated Pharmacy Professionals to deliver their Pharmacare services to general public. It is a criminal offence to play with the life of patients. Brain Drain is highest among Pharmacy Professionals Infact few colleges/Institutions are hub to produce Pharmacy Professional for abroad and earning millions. All the higher posts for Pharmacy Professionals are diluted in Govt Sector and in Private sector it is also dominated by other graduates other than Pharmacy. The situation is further deteriorated by non attending candidates and distribution of Pharmacy Registration Certificates by a organized group with vested interest. The teeth provided to the enforcing agency in the Pharmacy Act 1948 are not being used to punish the culprits. Regulators are busy in collecting their respective amounts from the retailers and wholesalers. The ratio of Retail shops per Drug Inspector is increasing day by day and hence, no check on the Community Pharmacy services. We want justice in term a single window system for Pharmacy issues at MoHFW with a Pharmacy Expert. We want immediate stay on the new ER-2020 and request to seek public opinions and suggestions from all the stakeholders before its enforcement. Dissolve the PCI like MCI as PCI also failed to enforce the Pharmacy Act 1948 in its true spirit. Make a policy one Nation  One Licence for Pharmacy Professionals and one Nation One Cadre for Pharmacy Professionals to deliver best Pharmacare services to general public. Including the Pharmacy services in charter for citizens. 1.35 million Pharmacy Professionals are suffering due to absence of single window system for Pharmacy issues at MoHFW with a Pharmacy Expert leading to poor policies for Pharmacy. Even Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka etc neighbouring countries are in better condition for Pharmacy Professionals as they have minimum qualification is B. Pharm for entry in Govt Sector. For the God sake SAVE THE PHARMACY PROFESSION IN LARGER PUBLIC INTEREST.
