Ban Shark Finning Globally

The Issue

This is important because sharks are important to the marine ecosystem; if sharks go extinct then the entire ecosystem could fail and the smaller marine organisms will over populate and eventually deplete their food system and doing so they will die off. That affects bigger marine organisms because if they have nothing to consume they will starve and die off. If sharks die off this could affect the entire food chain. There are 196 countries in the world, and only less than 30 countries Shark Finning is banned. The purpose of this petition is to eventually ban Shark Finning globally. We are three 13 year old students from Del Mar Middle School, Tiburon, California. Our purpose is to encourage youth participation in ocean conservation that would result in global abolition of Shark Finning.
