As a community deeply involved with our youth sports activities, we recognize the value that our local fields, like Habernickel, play in nurturing our young athletes. However, the lack of sufficient lighting restricts their ability to utilize these spaces to the fullest, especially during early spring sports seasons when usage could extend past sunset. This is why we propose the use of seasonal temporary field lighting at Habernickel Park (perhaps the lights previously being used at Vets field to minimize expense to the village). These lights would allow the field to be utilized for a longer duration, while the daylight hours are limited, benefitting our young athletes and sports organizations who already manage limited field availability. We also understand and respect the concerns of residents living nearby and, therefore, propose a curfew at approximately 9:15 pm for lights to turn off, to minimize any potential disruption. Extend our children's playtime, promote their development, and improve the community by allowing temporary, seasonal lights at Habernickel field. Please sign our petition.
