Today, the government announced a temporary ban on the sale of disposable BBQs in response to the extreme heat, drought and wildfire risk across the UK. This is a huge step forward!

Almost 50,000 of you have now signed this petition calling for a seasonal ban of the sale of disposable BBQs and fireworks during periods of high wildfire risk. Every signature, share and conversation has helped show just how strongly people feel about protecting our countryside, wildlife, homes and emergency services. A temporary ban isn't where this should end.

We shouldn't have to wait until more than 1,000 wildfires have been recorded and our countryside is decimated before action is taken. Today's decision proves that restricting the sale of disposable BBQs when wildfire risk is high  is both possible, and necessary.

Now we want to see a clear and consistent approach every year that prevents dangerous products being sold during periods of high wildfire risk before the fires happen.

This petition also calls for restrictions on the sale of fireworks. This part of the campaign isn't over either.

Today we celebrate, tomorrow we keep going. We're almost at 50,000 signatures, let's keep making ourselves heard. Please keep signing and sharing. We've shown that people want change, they have shown us that it can happen so lets make sure it's done properly.

Thank you to every single one of you that has gotten us this far.
