On the 16th of June it was reported that a family of 7 wild boar were killed by the National Parks and Wildlife Service. 6 were killed immediately including boarlets and the hunt for the 7th is currently ongoing. 

This action was taken on the premise that these animals are invasive and pose a risk to the natural environment.  

This petition takes the view that these actions were lazy, archaic and cruel. The department should have utilised its Government funded resources from taxpayers money to resolve the issue without killing 6 innocent creatures whose only crime was existing and that they now employ humane method to capture and rehome the last remaining animal- the male in the group.

Claims from the service that these animals were dangerous is disproven from a video of the group shortly before their murder which showed them to be docile and placid. 

Having has his family murdered in front of him the male is now probably traumatised. 

This petition also opposes the service use of the word euthanised as a sanitised way of claiming their killings were unavoidable and done to stop the animals suffering. 

*With an update of the last boar being killed despite public outcry, this petition will continue to run and the support used to directly question the decision making and actions taken by the National Parks and Wildlife Service.
