SEAL THE HUMAN ORAL HEALTH GATEWAY
The Issue
Mandate IRDAI to Include Basic Dental Care in All Standard Indian Health Insurance Policies!
Prime Minister's Office (PMO), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), and Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI).
To the Prime Minister of India and the Leadership of IRDAI,
Right now, India’s public healthcare debate focuses heavily on building more hospital beds, medical colleges, and advanced indoor treatments. However, we are completely ignoring the literal and biological gateway to human health: Oral and Dental Hygiene.
Currently, standard retail health insurance in India completely excludes outpatient (OPD) dental care. Because dental treatments are highly expensive out-of-pocket, millions of lower- and middle-class citizens simply ignore early-stage decay and gum diseases.
This is a massive public health failure. Medical science proves that poor teeth directly lead to chronic mechanical digestive failures, gastritis, and severe acid imbalances. Even worse, bleeding gums allow aggressive bacteria to enter the bloodstream, directly triggering or worsening life-threatening cardiovascular events, diabetes complications, and systemic infections.
By keeping dental care out of basic insurance, we are forcing citizens to delay care until a simple tooth issue explodes into a catastrophic indoor hospital emergency that drains family savings.
Just as our government aggressively seals national borders to protect its citizens from external threats, it must structurally "seal the gateway to disease" within the human body.
We demand:
An IRDAI Mandate: Direct all health insurance providers to include standard, non-elective dental coverage (at least 2 annual cleanings and basic extractions) within all baseline health policies.
Ayushman Bharat Expansion: Integrate basic preventative oral care into the AB-PMJAY scheme to protect India’s most vulnerable populations.
Please sign and share this petition to ensure the BEST HEALTH for every Indian citizen. Moving India from reactive indoor emergency care to proactive outdoor preventative care is a national necessity!
