RIBBON 4 CHANGE I myself am not a scuba diver, and never knew the importance of safety & situational awareness. On 11/21/2020 Dr. Frank Acosta Jr lost his life scuba diving in Catalina Island. Many accidents can be prevented if rules were made to be followed, dive centers ran responsibly, & the enforcement of following rules made priority. The Buddy system has been so disregarded & the failure of it has lead to many accidents & scuba diving fatalities. There needs to be more importance made to educate & raise awareness for Scuba diving. If rules were made to be followed my cousin Frank's accident and death may have been prevented. Frank was a top Neurosurgeon & Spinal Deformity Specialist, a Reasearcher, & Professor. Frank was big on Education, he would want to continue to help others learn from his unfortunate accident, and would hope for change...A ribbon would be an easy reminder to Raise Self & Situational Awareness.. Remembering loved ones whose fatalities maybe could have been prevented, Wear a ribbon to help make scuba diving safer, and prevent fatalities.
