For the 2024/2025 cyclone system DFES implemented a new warning system to join the rest of Australia.

The implementation of this system has not met the expectations of the residents of the most cyclone prone coast in Australia. There is a community feeling that people will die due to DFESs changes.

This petition is for the following changes:

1. Simplify Advice and implement it 24-48houra before the BOM predicts gales are to hit the area.
2. Implement Watch and Act 12-24 hours before BOM predicts gales are to hit the area. During a watch and act, direct businesses to close.
3. Implement Emergency warning when gales are expected to imminently hit the area. During an emergency warning close all roads in the warning area.

These changes align the new warning system with the key principles of the old warning system. It helps keep people safe and creates a clear timeline for residents to work to. It also re-links the BOM warnings with DFES.

Depending on the support of this petition, it will be supplied to DFES and local governments in the Western Australia regions that are most likely impacted by cyclones.
