Scrap proposed welfare reforms

Scrap proposed welfare reforms
The Issue
I am disabled and unfortunately out of work at the moment due to my health conditions. Without the support from PIP (Personal Independence Payment) and Universal Credit, I would be homeless and potentially another tragic statistic of individuals who have lost their life as a result of these misleading reforms. The system is already degrading towards disabled people, and now, with the proposed changes, it's becoming increasingly hostile.
Welfare reforms targeting PIP and Universal Credit are threatening the livelihood of thousands of disabled individuals like myself. These benefits are a lifeline for people who are unable to work due to severe health conditions. Recent proposals threaten to cut this vital support, ignoring the unique challenges faced by people with disabilities. It's not just about financial aid; it's about respecting our dignity and acknowledging our right to live independently.
In the UK alone, around 2.8 million people rely on PIP, and approximately 5.5 million individuals depend on Universal Credit. Implementing these drastic changes could force many into poverty, homelessness, or worse. The government's efforts to 'reform' these benefits ignore the essential role they play in ensuring a basic standard of living for disabled beneficiaries. The truth is, these reforms are anything but reforms for us; they're detrimental rollbacks that threaten our survival.
Rather than stripping these essential supports, there should be an emphasis on enhancing the support system to be more inclusive and understanding of the diverse needs of disabled individuals. This involves listening to disabled voices and protecting our rights as equal members of society.
We urge the government to halt the proposed welfare reforms targeting PIP and Universal Credit, and instead, focus on improving the current welfare system. With your support, we can preserve the essential support that allows disabled individuals to live with dignity and hope.
Join me in standing against these unfair reforms. Sign this petition to protect the rights and welfare of disabled individuals and ensure they receive the support they rightfully deserve.
