As the pressure continues to mount for the PM to call an inquiry, Kate's boyfriend (and later friend) has told the media that she first confided in him about alleged rape in 1989. In some States the first time that a victim confides the story of their sexual assault, that can be used as formal evidence that the rape occured. Kate's ex-boyfriend's statement is yet another piece of evidence that NSW police haven't uncovered or considered as they have not done a full investigation into the alleged rape. They have not done a full investigation because Kate tragically took her own life before making a formal, signed statement.
