Major government changes to policies including minimising fulltime hours to 30hrs
The issue
Hope you’re currently enjoying the school holiday with your family and friends as to your fellow colleagues. I’ll start by introducing myself to you, my name is Amelia Bullard and I was just writing to you today to address a few concerns that I have regarding the legislation that’s currently in place in Australia.
As a concerned citizen as a government we have been having issues with economic growth and I thought it’s the perfect time to tackle a few other issues for instance changing legislation like John Howard is famously known for doing when he was elected in the House of Representatives. Wouldn’t it be nice to pick up where he left off? And to prove to other countries that Australia is ahead when it comes to serving world class humanitarian rights.
I was motivated today to write to you purely on the basis that I have a passion to stand up for the majority and bring an end to the poverty and other current humanitarian issues facing our Australian citizens, (and citizens located in other countries) but I have an understanding to tackle such issues it takes patience to face them one by one and steadily incorporating some new policies for example the previous Medicare and NDIS scheme.
This kind of behaviour will show and lead all Australians into a greater expectation of improving global issues a whole. This without no doubt will make this our new legacy for future generations just as Benjamin Franklin did for Americans Constitution.
We are already living in such a lucky country which is equally beautiful which is rich of so much culture and so much heritage and knowing this we could take the next leap to display a whole new light on government policies and seeing it from a whole new angle.
Recently on the 1st July 2021 we had our annual minimum wages increased by 2.5% and it’s great to see a steady progress to our wages each financial year, but is there more rights that could be introduced for all workers?
It wasn’t until 1916 that the Eight Hours Act (now known as labour day) was passed in Victoria to minimise the shocking working hours from 40 hours a week. Just down to 38 hours a week. That’s only minimising full time hours by a mind boggling 2 hours. I think more can be done to address this issue which I will get into later.
This was only passed by Victoria and it took awhile later for the rest of our nation to catch up and introduce these changes nationwide with some people working a shocking average 45 hours a week.
This was only minimised to 40 hours for the full time worker in 1948. Wasn’t until the late 1970’s-1980’s was changed to 38 hours for full time workers. Which is a great start to making this movement, but what else can be done?
It we decided to return to our schooling years of doing 6 hours a day, 5 days a week which adds up to 30 hours a week. This is a very decisive change due to how we are being hard wired for at school and this will motivate students to finish their year 12 at school knowing that they won’t be working overtime when they graduate University.
Aware that you and your party members must feel a lot of pressure from time to time working away from home away from your families. Many other families are doing similar and some in worse conditions unfortunately.
Plus! Once we get our working hours down and minimum wages up gaining similar or more income as before, that’s when we will see higher employment rates and the social endemic problems of poverty living paycheque to paycheque on Centrelink or apprenticeship size wages is when our economy will be great, more people employed due to the fact of more stimulation in the economy. This is just one small way we can improve our current government.
Australian’s are more than happy to share a few new ideas and I’m sure there’s many magnificent ideas in fact. All you have to do is ask the general public what they would like to see presented in the future for all Australians. We are already extremely blessed to be in such a beautiful country and we can only go forward from here on.
One of many things I believe would benefit the Australian citizens would be minimising our full time hours and even increasing our paid leave to get an average a day a fortnight in everyone’s leave eligibility brackets.
There’s been a few issues that are known about for some time arising in all working industries abroad that need to be addressed and here are some examples listed below.
· High turn arounds of employees
· Illnesses including better mental health
· Not enough hours in the week to undertake further studies
· Problems with finding new employees
· Workplaces not being flexible due to workers personal life
· Lengthy times away from our families
· Work place injuries due to being overworked and tired
· Equality and discrimination enforcement in all workplaces
· Earning same amount of pay with less hours at work
· Australian Taxation Office & Fair Work breaches
As previously mentioned about the legislation it would be the perfect time to confront these issues one by one while there’s a lot of presence in parliament and the media regarding the pandemic. This will show the world how strong Australians are by the way they are fighting the pandemic and holding such ethical views to improve the world as a 1st world country. This is bound to later on boost the tourism industry in Australia when the borders are declared reopened.
So I’ve listed a few of the legislations below that would be foreseeable to be reviewed.
· Fair work act 2009
· Human rights act 2004
· Internationale human rights (adopted only in 1948)
· Environment protection and biodiversity Conservation act 1999
· Criminal Code Act 1995
· Cybercrime 2001
· Animal welfare 1985
· Building and construction industry act 2016
· The interactive gambling act 2001
· Food regulation 2015
· Mental health act 2007
That’s just listing a few that are due to be mended. Don’t doubt you’re ability to be able to see the pattern for yourself that these dates are quite outdated and are due to be reinstated. This will minimise the amount of outdated clauses and other unpractical loopholes that we have all been meaning to come back to on a later date.
Have no doubt that the Australian people be happy to come out and express some of the humanitarian rights and other views that are over due to be mentioned in these acts to further move us forward more into the 21st century and make as much influences for other countries to potentially follow along.
After the abuse of power by the Labour Party putting our economic stimulus in a deficit. People should be wary of their ways to and ain’t really there to represent “The people” via there past principles. The moment the Coalition takes into account the views of the every day person on how the world should run. That’s the day you will win over the hearts of many loyal Labour supporters.
I’m sure we all have learned a lot from this past year about how important it is to show human compassion to others even those who are strangers. This is why Australians are known to be some of the most loveliest people to come across around the world.
Australia is one of the most beautiful countries in the world and it’s about time that Australia starts to show the world how much more beautiful we can make others in the world by showing a high example of how us should be as human nature.
I deeply appreciate you for spending your time to read through my email and Hoping you, your families, your colleagues and the other parties who are currently in parliament are safe having as less stressful time and are still enjoying the win from the young Ashleigh Barty in the recent Wimbledon game.
Kind regards,
Amelia Bullard
