It was recently announced that fully vaccinated Singaporean Citizens will be able to travel to parts of Australia and back without being quarantined (Quarantine-free travel between Singapore and Australia from Nov 21).

It is disappointing, though, that this will not apply to long-term residents here.
Long term residents include Permanent Residents and long term Visa holders who have been living in Singapore for years.

There is no such restriction for travellers entering Singapore from Australia under the Vaccinated Travel Lane scheme. It is unfortunate that the arrangement is not a reciprocal one in this aspect.

Under the travel conditions, many of us will not be able to visit our family and loved ones in Australia who live and work there. We have not been able to see and hug them for the past 23 months because of Covid-19 restrictions and it is unfair that we have to wait any longer and only Singapore citizens are allowed despite the fact that they have not been in Singapore for 14 days before departure to Australia.

We are fully vaccinated in Singapore, we will be genuine visitors on Visitor Visas (600) and we are desperate to meet our partners, parents, children and relatives after painful years of forced separation due to border closures.

I believe there are others facing a similar situation, and hope something can be done.
