Scott Kirwan's fight for freedom

Scott Kirwan's fight for freedom

The Issue

Scott Kirwan is a wonderful, kind person who is loved by so many.  He grew up in Malden Massachusetts with a loving family And never got himself into trouble. After high school he joined the U.S. Navy. Following basic training and cryptology training, he received Top Secret clearance and was assigned to NSGA Kunia, Hawaii. In December of 1997 Scott received an honorable discharge and began working for Delta airlines. In March 1999, Scott took the exam to become a United States postal worker and in May of 1999 he took the exam to become a police officer. It was July 1999 when his life turned upside down. The evening of July 2,1999, Scott and a friend walked across the street to a local bar for a few drinks.    During the night a couple of other guys seemed to be looking for trouble. Eventually these two young men were asked to leave the bar by the bartender.  Several hours later, Scott and his friend headed home which was right across the street. Once they stepped out of the bar, a truck pulled in front of them blocking them from crossing the street. The same two young men got out and started a fight.  it is saddened to say that one of the young men died during this fight and Scott was arrested.  After several postponed trial dates, his trial began on November 15, 1999 and he was found guilty of First Degree Murder on November 20, 1999 after only 45min of deliberations.  Scott was sentenced to life in prison with no parole. This verdict is unjust. Scott knows he is guilty of something, but not First Degree. We ask for your support in Scott's case and help bring him home to his family.
