Scott Hanright has been serving a life sentence for another man’s crimes since 2010. The law that sentenced him was revised in 2017 as the Massachusetts SJC deemed it unjust. The Court quoted Scott’s case 10+ times while proving this law to be unjust (Felony-Murder rule), but they did not make it retroactive and Scott is still incarcerated. The goal of this petition is to have the MA Governor pardon Scott, make the revisions to the Felony-Murder Rule retroactive, and/or allow him to have a fair and just trial.
