During this cost of surviving crisis, there has been recommendations made by the UK government about school uniforms. 

The government says "The purpose of this guidance is to ensure the cost of school uniforms is reasonable and secures the best value for money" which arguably it does not.

Schools have updated or adjusted their policies, but that has resulted in many somehow managing to designate yet more uniform that MUST be bought from one particular supplier, generally at an extortionate cost, as opposed to more affordable sources such as supermarkets.

There is little evidence that wearing a blazer and skirt combo, from one particular shop with a monopoly, has a high impact on a child's ability to learn and whilst most people respect that schools wish to keep students looking smart, this is becoming a huge and unnecessary burden to many parents. It does not prepare children for the real world, in which company uniform is generally provided free of charge. 

I PROPOSE THAT; If schools require very specific uniform, they are to fund this themselves. Relax the rules for parents and their children, make it truly affordable to buy uniform and consider a selling a patch to afix to blank uniform in the correct colour. 

In a time where the cost of food, heating, rent / mortgage payments are becoming increasingly more difficult to cover with wages, the last thing any parent needs is the absolute requirement to obtain a uniform that someone else has decided is an "affordable" price.
