Schools Should Donate There Extra Food

Schools Should Donate There Extra Food
The Issue
I want to solve the problem in our community of food waste, Food waste happens every day At "PRP High School". We could donate the extra items at the end of the day to the local food shelter and that could support tons of people in need. . The Ones Affected Here Are Homeless, Starving, unfortunate people that could be eating these items that are being "WASTED" .
The Way We Can Solve This Problem Is
Donate All Extra Food Left At Each And Every Day/Week
Liability That Protects The School System
The Federal Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Food Donation Act protects the donor and the recipient agency against liability, excepting only gross negligence and/or intentional misconduct. In addition, each state has passed Good Samaritan Laws that provide liability protection to good faith donors. Each of the Harvest Programs we coordinate have established procedures to ensure that safe food handling and storage is built into their donation program.
The law protects food donors, including individuals, and nonprofit feeding programs who act in good faith. While exceptions are made for gross negligence, the law states that test groups will not be subject to civil or criminal liability. More specifically, the law protects individuals, corporations, partnerships, organizations, associations, governmental entities, wholesalers, retailers, restaurateurs, caterers, farmers, gleaners, nonprofit agencies, and more.
What sort of food is protected?
The Emerson Act provides protection for food and grocery products that meet all quality and labeling standards imposed by federal, state and local laws and regulations even though the food may not be "readily marketable due to appearance, age, freshness, grade, size, surplus or other conditions."

Transportation-
"Organizations like Feeding America and Food Finders try to make it easier for vendors to donate food by acting as middlemen between food vendors like grocery stores, produce markets, restaurants, and hotels and food providers like food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters"
"Feeding America alone feeds 46 million Americans every yearthrough its associated food banks and other organizations. Feeding America is the largest network of food banks of its kind."
"Both Food Finders and Feeding America have partnerships with major grocery chains like Wal-Mart, Target, Kroger, and Trader Joe's. AND soon maybe schools."
"These outreach efforts have been working. In just the past 10 years, Feeding America has doubled the amount of food it receives from vendors from 1.9 billion pounds of food per year to 4 billion pounds."
The types of donations have changed, as well. In the past, donations were almost exclusively canned goods or bakery items. Now grocery stores are increasingly donating perishables like produce, meat, and dairy that are still safe to eat even though they're no longer at "peak freshness."
"Feeding America's network of food banks have responded to the change in donations by increasing freezer and refrigeration space. The organization has spent millions of dollars on refrigerated trucks to transport the new donations safely, says Ross Fraser, director of media relations for Feeding America."
"And if our adventures in "dumpster-diving" were any indication, there is a lot of good food that major retailers let through the cracks."
If We Lose This Campaign ton And Tons Of Food Will Be wasted and Its continues to build up and eventually we will just have "Islands Of Wasted Food" and more and more hunger people by the day.
But
If We Win This Campaign Food Banks, Homeless Shelters, and other places that help others in need will be supported every day/week with loads of Food that would have gone to waste. Keeping People from getting hunger-er and keep the waste to a minimum and helping society staying positive.
