The Issue

Schools need to bring more awareness to the affects of climate change and what students can do to help.

There are many species that are negativity affected by climate change and global warming all across the world.  One of these species is the Canada Lynx, who are native to the pacific northwest. The Canada Lynx are an already endangered species, with an estimated 50 left in Washington, but predicted to continue to decrease. Because of global warming, the amount and frequency of snow-covered land is rapidly decreasing, which leaves less land for Canada Lynx to hunt alone in. With less snowy land, more animals venture out to the lynx’s home, creating a threat to both the Canada Lynx and their food source, the Snowshoe hare.

While climate change is a known topic, and most people at least know the basics of it, not much action is being taken. This is why I am petitioning for schools to not only teach about climate change, but to do something about it. This could be having a list of options that students can do on a daily basis to help the environment. It doesn't have to be anything crazy, the main thing is that it needs more awareness. The earth is dying, and we need to help.
