Pants as an Option for Nazareth Academy Uniform

Pants as an Option for Nazareth Academy Uniform

My high school has only had a skirt option for students to wear for the uniform. In my past four years here, the uniform has changed three times in different ways. I and many other people feel it should be changed for the benefit of students.
There should be an option for students who are not comfortable in a skirt, even if it is an all-girls private catholic school. Many young women in high school are harassed and sexualized in skirts on a daily basis. The school should at least offer another option for students who are uncomfortable in a skirt. It could alleviate some stress from students to at least be comfortable with what they are wearing. Skirts are not practical for everyday activities for the school. In some classes, you may have to worry about your skirt getting caught on something because it is flowy. And or the skirt may get dipped, like paint or even worse chemicals while in the science lab, into something because it is flowy and can not be controlled all the time.
Some students are also forced to go here by their parents and can not just leave the school to escape it. I, as a trans-man, am greatly uncomfortable every day at school because of the very narrow uniform options. Many times I have wanted to leave school during the day because I can no longer take it. I and other students should at least be given something to wear that we am comfortable in. I have tried for two years to get another option for it to go nowhere.
Many other all-girls catholic high schools have a pants option for students. It allows every student to be comfortable every day in school. It is not only helping students be comfortable but it is also suicide prevention among teens struggling with gender identity. Everyone should be comfortable with what they are wearing and should never be forced into something they do not want.
