We, the undersigned members of the community, parents, students, educators, and concerned citizens, respectfully call for the resignation of Dr. Duane Meighan from his role as Superintendent.

This petition is not made lightly, but rather as a response to a growing number of concerns surrounding the leadership and direction of our school district under Dr. Meighan’s tenure. These concerns include, but are not limited to:

Lack of transparency in decision-making, failure to address community concerns, declining student performance, leadership conflicts, mishandling of disciplinary policies.

Retaliating against staff after speaking up about concerns, and inappropriate employee treatment. (PLEASE REFER TO ILLEGAL FIRING OF DR. HOLMES). We have staff still waiting for payments from Summer.

Misuse of public dollars, and neglecting the children in the district. Such as shopping at Victoria Secrets, Express, Ruth Chris Steak House, fresh flowers (consistently). We owe Amazon $10,000, and we’re in debt. He’s refusing to complete the requested Hazard Investigation for IDOT. In order to gain bussing for the entire district. (Note: we don’t have side walks near the schools. We also have kids crossing Cicero. Which is considered a highway.)

Ignoring emergency items that are and/or were in need of being fixed  such as plumbing, heating/cooling (He left our kids without heat for 3 days in freezing weather), broken doors, fire violations, and giving children outdated laptops. However, making the parents pay for laptops they should’ve been replaced. Parents have not been allowed to volunteer all school year. Not to even go on field trips. Parents have been denied the right to a PTO for the last three school years including but no limited to this one.

We believe that effective leadership is built on trust, accountability, and a commitment to putting students first. Unfortunately, it has become clear that under Dr. Meighan’s stewardship, these principles have been compromised.

We urge the school board and relevant authorities to take this petition seriously and take the necessary steps to begin the process of leadership change. It is time for a new vision — one that prioritizes the needs of students, values community input, and fosters a healthy and productive environment for learning.

By signing this petition, we express our lack of confidence in Dr. Meighan’s leadership and formally request his resignation as Superintendent.
