Suzanne Cruz has given the last 15 years of her life as a beloved and dedicated teacher. Fourteen of those years were for Broward County Schools and the last six at Westglades Middle School in Parkland, Florida.

Mrs. Cruz is the mother of 4 school aged children. Her youngest son, Logan, was diagnosed with leukemia in August 2017 at the age of 9. He is still bravely fighting this battle. 

With the Covid pandemic many teachers in Broward County, including Mrs. Cruz, applied to the Equal Education Opportunity (EEO) Department to continue to teach from home once Broward County Schools opened. Mrs. Cruz was denied because she is not the one with the illness.  She had to either choose to go back to teaching in person (putting Logan’s life in considerable risk) or take an unpaid leave. Mrs. Cruz chose the unpaid leave. 

l am asking for your support to have Mrs. Cruz’s denial reversed and to allow this dedicated teacher to remain teaching and to not have to put her child’s health in jeopardy.
