Scammed by Budget Direct House Insurance

The issue

Dear Readers (19-12-2024)
On recently checking policy renewals due to excessive premium increases I discovered that I was being charged via automatic renewals (for the past 3 years) insurance for a property that does not exist and has never existed. This may sound ridiculous but we have never claimed we own this property and it has never existed. The street address does not exist either.
I have requested that the monies paid for the premiums for the past 3 years be refunded, however Budget Direct/Auto General has refused a refund alleging that it is my fault for the error of the insurance of this Phantom Property. Budget Direct have been taking monies under false pretenses. They have not told me what risks they were insuring and neither have they provided me with a copy of the original application for insurance for the Phantom Property. I had other policies with Budget Direct and these have now been cancelled. It is my opinion that Budget Direct have no professional integrity or moral values. They do not deserve the trust extended to them to manage the insurances and to automatically deduct monies from my bank account for renewals.
My impression is that Budget Direct appears to think that they can intimidate their way to their desired outcome rather than achieving any reasonable practical outcome. I have been told that it is common practice for insurance companies to deceive, deny and delay payments of claims. We are not/have not made a claim and are merely seeking a refund of the monies that Budget Direct/Auto General have taken from our bank account for this phantom property. This must be one of the most bizarre stories about insurance scams.
Please look at the address on the photo, then do a google search. You will not find that address or any properties for that address.

Scammers need to be called out for what they are. Dishonest and despicable are two names which in my opinion are applicable to Budget Direct/ Auto General.

Regards, Keith
